MSP providers that can create advanced layered protection across all these levels are currently gaining a significant advantage over the competition. Growing demand for cybersecurity as a service is forcing MSP providers to expand the range of their managed services. To enable them to flexibly improve the quality of their customers' security, **N-able**, a supplier of tools for MSP providers, recommends implementing these **basic** security layers and measures: 1. **Devices** – rules for remote monitoring and management plus modern antivirus combining signature-based protection, heuristic analysis and behavioral scanning 2. **Applications** – regular software updates and elimination of unsupported software 3. **Users** – strong password policies and regular security training 4. **Networks –** network firewall 5. **Internet –** email protection, URL filtering and closure of internet ports, including the RDP protocol. These basic measures can then be flexibly supplemented according to current needs with **advanced** layers. For example, antivirus can be replaced with an EDR solution for more comprehensive endpoint protection, such as **N-able EDR**. At the user level, a password management solution such as **N-able Passportal** can be used to increase password security. Or, at the internet level, the **N-able Mail Assure** solution can be deployed, which, beyond the basic security layer, provides email continuity and email archiving. “SMB companies usually cannot afford to implement a complete security system all at once; they lack both the budget and personnel,” said **Ondřej Šabata, Sales Engineer for N-able solutions at ZEBRA SYSTEMS**. “Our experience with MSP partners shows that a sensible way to ensure effective cybersecurity is the so-called layered approach, consisting of the gradual addition of security layers.
