*According to GFI Software, technical access security is most effective when combined with anti-phishing tools and user training on social engineering methods*

**PRAGUE, May 16, 2024** – [**GFI Software**](http://www.gfi.com/), a provider of security solutions for enterprise networks, stated that according to its survey conducted among Czech and Slovak partners, the most secure way to sign in to accounts is **two-factor authentication (2FA).** According to 91% of the surveyed IT professionals, the most common mistake users make is **reusing the same password to sign in to multiple accounts**.

The history of password creation has been marked by a constant battle between users protecting their accounts and cyber attackers seeking to exploit access to them for their own benefit. However, users often make mistakes when they generate easily guessable passwords or handle them carelessly. Therefore, in addition to access management tools, it is also very important to eliminate phishing risks, which attackers can use to easily gain access to critical corporate systems.

Some interesting survey findings:

- According to 91% of the surveyed IT administrators, passwords reused across multiple accounts are a common mistake; according to 68%, passwords containing a name or date of birth; according to 58%, passwords shorter than 8 characters; and according to 53% of respondents, simple number sequences.
- In the ranking of secure sign-in methods, 2FA sign-in ranked first, followed by biometric authentication (e.g., FaceID), a strong password, while a PIN code was considered the least secure.
- According to 57% of respondents, artificial intelligence (AI) can help generate strong passwords; according to 54%, it can analyze and identify weak points; and according to 33%, it can help remember all passwords. At the same time, 76% are concerned that AI may also be misused to obtain login credentials without authorization.
- Only 42% of respondents said they had recently conducted training specifically focused on password creation, and 23% on training about phishing and social engineering. Most training today (according to 66% of respondents) focuses on general IT security awareness.

“Managing access to important systems and data has long been perceived as a weak point in securing corporate IT infrastructure,” said **Zdeněk Bínek, Director of ZEBRA SYSTEMS, distributor of GFI Software solutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.** “It is necessary to realize that, alongside creating strong passwords and using comprehensive access management tools, technical measures such as email filtering and user training to eliminate phishing threats are equally important. What good are unguessable passwords or unbreakable 2FA authentication if a user gives attackers access themselves, voluntarily, based on a single phishing email?”
