# Acronis introduces next-generation data protection technology for virtual, physical, and cloud environments

Prague – July 25, 2014 – [Acronis](http://www.acronis.com/)® today announced the availability of AnyData technology for customers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The new generation of Acronis data protection, based on AnyData technology, offers easy, comprehensive, and secure backup, disaster recovery, and secure access to all data, regardless of the environment or location in which it is stored.

“Customers are facing a continuous increase in data volumes as well as growing use of virtualization, cloud, and mobile platforms,” says Robert Amatruda, research director for data protection and recovery at [IDC](http://www.idc.com/). “To protect their critical data across the full range of applications in physical, virtual, and cloud environments, businesses need to consider a versatile yet comprehensive solution such as Acronis with AnyData technology.”

Acronis AnyData technology, developed over more than 10 years, has made it possible to create cost-effective products. These seamlessly integrate data protection capabilities across the entire company and enable those capabilities to grow together with the business. Before the arrival of AnyData technology, organizations using an older generation of data protection solutions had to choose between affordable but insufficiently comprehensive products and highly comprehensive but costly products. Acronis now offers a new approach that provides the best of both solutions – best-in-class individual products that work together seamlessly and easily to ensure comprehensive data protection.

The user interface and management features of products based on AnyData technology offer great flexibility of use while reducing training costs and eliminating compatibility issues. They deliver twice the performance using 50% of the resources to process tasks of any type, in any virtual or physical environment, at any location across clouds, data centers, or remote branches.

“Data protection is more important today than ever before, and because the loss of critical business data is absolutely unacceptable, organizations are urgently recognizing the need to protect it,” says [Sergei Beloussov](http://www.acronis.com/company/officers.html), CEO of Acronis. “Our goal is to be a leading provider of easy-to-use, comprehensive, and secure next-generation data protection solutions. With AnyData technology and our updated product lineup, we have redefined what best-in-class means in backup, disaster recovery, and secure data access.”

AnyData technology was created by more than 300 developers and members of the research team at Acronis Labs. This team leveraged Acronis’ extensive portfolio of more than 50 patents and created the first comprehensive yet easy-to-use data protection solution worthy of the name Any, because it supports:

any protection: data backup, bare-metal recovery, migration, and mass system deployment

- any device: servers and workstations
- any server: virtual and physical
- any operating system: Windows® and Linux®
- any file system: NTFS, ReFS, FAT16/32, Ext2/3/4, ReiserFS3, XFS, JFS, and others
- any virtualization environment: VMware®, Hyper-V®, XenServer®, Red Hat® Enterprise Virtualization, Parallels, and others
- any migration: V2V, V2P, P2V, P2P
- any application: Exchange, SQL Server®, SharePoint®, and Active Directory®
- any location: in the cloud, at corporate headquarters, and in remote branches

In addition, Acronis has changed the allocation of features across products to reduce their complexity and provide customers with greater value. Popular features such as recovery to dissimilar hardware, deduplication, and granular application recovery are now included in the core products.

Key AnyData technologies include:

**Disk and virtual machine backup (imaging)** – efficiently captures all data while giving the user a choice of full, incremental, or differential backup.

**Active restore** – monitors operating system input and output requests and restores the blocks needed by the OS while continuing to restore the remaining blocks in the background. This makes it possible to boot the computer and launch applications long before the recovery is complete.

**Unified backup format** – highly efficient algorithms reduce storage, input/output, and processor requirements and enable unified, fast, easy, and granular access to multiple versions of files, applications, and systems.

**Single-pass block-level backup** – eliminates the need for multiple agents and thus dramatically increases speed and efficiency.

Together, these techniques form a lean architecture in which individual affordable products fit together to create a single unified data protection solution. This allows organizations to purchase only what they need – without unnecessary complexity or an initial investment in a platform.
