The survey shows that 77% of Czech companies and organizations are most concerned about hardware failures in connection with the loss of important business data. To protect their data, an increasing number of companies are considering backup using cloud solutions. Although more than 90% of Czech companies still prefer so-called on-premise solutions that back up corporate data to local storage, there are now several reasons in favor of cloud solutions. One is the increasingly favorable price of stored data as a result of the growing supply of cloud storage space, with backup solutions offering unlimited space no longer being unusual. Another important factor is the increasing number of portable devices used for work and the greater risks resulting from their loss. Finally, many businesses have already tried storage services such as Dropbox and Google Drive, only to find that they are better suited for storing and sharing files than for securely backing up and recovering critical data. Key findings from the local survey: - In connection with data loss, Czech companies and organizations fear failure or damage to their PCs, tablets and smartphones (77%), theft or loss of devices (48%), accidental data deletion (44%) and malware attacks (28%); - The predominant trigger for acquiring a specific backup solution is a previous experience with data loss (84%), far ahead of compliance with regulations (8%), time-consuming manual backup (5%) and insufficient storage capacity (3%); - Currently, 91% of corporate customers prefer local backup solutions, 6% prefer cloud solutions and 3% prefer both equally; - However, assuming a comparable price, more than 50% of customers would consider switching to cloud backup. “When we asked ordinary users globally last year about the value of the data stored on their PCs, they stated an average amount of USD 1,000,” said **Zdeněk Bínek, responsible for sales of Acronis solutions in the Czech and Slovak markets.** “In the case of business data, the value can be estimated to be orders of magnitude higher, and in this light, the current costs of cloud backup for a PC or mobile device are a mere fraction.
