Most of these organizations had to restore data multiple times or do so regularly… 22/10/2021 · 2 min read · ZEBR.ai editorial team **Acronis** reported that, **according to a local survey** conducted among participants of the **Acronis Cyber Protection Roadshow** **2021** conference in Prague and Ostrava, 94% of respondents had at some point needed to restore data in their organization or for their customers. Most of these organizations had to restore data multiple times or do so regularly, and for a quarter of them the recovery process takes more than 12 hours. Although hardware failures and human error remain the main causes of data unavailability, cyberattack incidents are also growing rapidly, as reported by 27% of respondents. Therefore, an increasing number of companies and external IT administrators are combining backup solutions with cybersecurity tools – most notably, 83% of respondents stated that they protect their backups with anti-malware solutions. The most interesting findings from the survey conducted by Acronis at the conference include: - Only 6% of respondents have not yet had to restore company data; 19% had to restore it once, 67% multiple times, and 8% of organizations restore it regularly. - 20% of organizations restored their data in less than an hour, 56% in less than 12 hours, another 20% in less than 24 hours, and 4% in more than 24 hours. - 16% of respondents do not test backup recovery at all, and 29% test it only once a year. Meanwhile, 27% test quarterly, 24% monthly, and 4% weekly. - As additional backup protection, 83% use anti-malware defenses, 61% email protection, 38% vulnerability scanning, and 17% disaster recovery. “Attackers are aware that backed-up data is an obstacle to successful extortion, and therefore they primarily focus on encrypting backups or taking backup solutions out of operation,” said **Aleš Hok, Sales Director at ZEBRA SYSTEMS responsible for Acronis solutions.** “In order to eliminate the consequences of such cyberattacks and ransomware incidents, we are seeing growing interest in cybersecurity tools among our customers and partners.
