The current report predicts eight of the most likely cyber trends, including attacks on **cryptocurrencies, MSP providers and cloud services**. **Acronis Cyberthreats Report 2022** is based on data about real attacks and threats provided by the Acronis Cyber Protection Operations Centers (CPOCs), which monitor and search for cyber threats 24 hours a day. This data was collected in the fourth quarter from more than 250,000 unique endpoints worldwide, which are protected by the Acronis Cyber Protect solution introduced this year. For 2022, Acronis predicts the following trends: 1. **Ransomware attacks continue and increase the scale of damage** – by the end of 2021, the total damage caused by ransomware is estimated at $20 billion. 2. **Cryptocurrencies are a major target for attackers** – as the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies rises, so does the interest of hackers seeking to steal them using phishing and malware techniques. 3. **Phishing is the main attack vector** – last year saw a record level of phishing attacks, which, in addition to email, use new communication channels including text messages and Teams chats. 4. **MSPs are experiencing attacks that exploit their own tools** – attackers will seek to gain control over customer data using PSA and RMM tools used to provide MSP services. 5. **API attacks at the cloud service level** – the current boom in cloud services, edge computing and API services means increased interest from cybercriminals targeting the disruption of business processes through API attacks. 6. **User privacy breaches** – due to the ever-increasing volume of data, many organizations have already lost track of all stored data, increasing the likelihood of data leaks. 7. **Abuse of AI for attacks** – as more and more IT systems use artificial intelligence methods for their protection, attackers are also able to use AI to weaken that protection. 8. **Unification of security products** – the increasing diversity of threats will mean greater demand for comprehensive, centrally managed tool platforms from a single vendor. “Acronis Cyber Protection Operations Centers provide a valuable and realistic view of the current level of cyber threats,” said **Aleš Hok, Sales Director at ZEBRA SYSTEMS, distributor of Acronis solutions**. “As a result, our customers and partners can be sure that the Acronis Cyber Protect and Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud platforms always contain the maximum level of cyber protection against current threats.” Access the full study (in English) [here](https://dl.acronis.com/u/rc/White-Paper-Acronis-Cyber-Threats-Report-2022-EN-US.pdf).
