MRG Effitas testers compared Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation, CrashPlan Home 4.8.0, EaseUS TODO Backup Home 10.0, Genie Timeline Home 2016, IDrive 6.5.1.23, Macrium Reflect Home 6.3.1655, NovaBACKUP 18.5 Build 926 and Paragon Backup and Recovery 16. The result of the testing is a comprehensive report entitled “[MRG Effitas Comparative Assessment of Data Protection/Backup Products on Protection, Performance, and Usability](http://go.acronis.com/MRGEffitas).” The report states that Acronis True Image was the only solution able to protect against all tested ransomware threats, thanks to Acronis Active Protection technology launched earlier this year. “Among all evaluated products, only Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation was able to protect backed-up data against every ransomware attack,” the report states in its final assessment. “Other solutions do not provide such protection of backed-up files against ransomware.” However, this is not the only finding that puts the Acronis solution ahead of other backup products. According to MRG Effitas, Acronis True Image won 18 out of 24 performance tests and came second in the remaining ones. “The test results are truly impressive,” said John Zanni, CMO at Acronis. “From an independent perspective, they show that our data protection solution is currently truly best in class.” “Ransomware represents a significant risk for end users, businesses and public organizations. Technologies combating malware cannot provide 100% protection against this class of malicious software.
