Many users working from home due to limited access to offices often use private devices with more vulnerabilities than regularly updated corporate computers. **[According to some findings](https://www.csoonline.com/article/3572336/4-top-vulnerabilities-ransomware-attackers-exploited-in-2020.html)**, up to 80% of attacks during the first half of 2020 exploited vulnerabilities registered in 2017 and earlier, indicating a high proportion of unpatched software on devices in use. An analysis of this year's ransomware attacks showed that attackers primarily exploit vulnerabilities in tools used for remote access to Windows networks. It is therefore necessary to strengthen patch management processes, which ensure automated updates on endpoint devices connected to the network. Available technical solutions identify all computers with unpatched software, firewall issues, malware protection issues, etc., and offer missing patches. “During the first half of the year, many organizations addressed secure connectivity for their employees using VPN solutions,” said **Zdeněk Bínek, responsible for GFI Software sales in the Czech Republic and Slovakia**. “While this successfully blocks attacks during transmission and provides secure access to corporate data and files, it does not protect against attacks targeting vulnerable systems on endpoint devices.
