*More and more employees primarily access their emails from their mobile BYOD devices, increasing the threat to their company’s networks*

**PRAGUE, 22 October 2018** – [**GFI Software**](http://www.gfi-software.cz/)**,** a provider of business network security solutions, stated that according to a **survey conducted this September** among Czech and Slovak IT administrators of GFI and Kerio solutions, spam and viruses remain the biggest problems in the area of email. They are closely followed by access to email **from insufficiently secured BYOD devices**, which more and more employees use to access corporate emails, thereby increasing the threat to business networks.

Attacks on mobile devices, and mobile phones in particular, are becoming increasingly frequent and effective. The infection by a malware-infected Android mobile application downloaded from Google Play, which enabled [access to users’ bank accounts](https://mobil.idnes.cz/nahravac-hovoru-qrecorder-muze-byt-zavirovany-fr0-/mob_tech.aspx?c=A180925_105023_mob_tech_jm), is still fresh in memory. Infected mobile devices connecting to corporate networks without any protection then also become a threat to business data.

Key findings of the GFI & Kerio survey:

- In addition to data backup (63%), the surveyed IT administrators consider email protection (43%), web access security (37%) and endpoint security (30%) to be particularly underestimated;
- In the area of email infrastructure protection in SMB companies, the largest number of IT administrators (77%) report problems with spam and viruses; 42% struggle with access from mobile devices, 32% with searching for lost emails, and 23% with insufficient email storage capacity.
- A majority of users use mobile devices as their primary means of accessing email in 45% of SMB companies.

“Given the growing number of attacks on mobile devices, which unlike personal computers generally do not even have basic antivirus protection, the threat of attacks on the email systems accessed by these devices is also increasing,” said **Zdeněk Bínek, responsible for sales of GFI Software solutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia**. “Email is a key communications infrastructure for all SMB companies, which should take into account the user trend towards mobile access to email and adequately strengthen protection in this area.”

As part of the **[GFI Unlimited](http://www.gfi-unlimited.cz/)** licensing program, GFI Software offers **[Kerio Connect](https://www.gfi.com/products-and-solutions/email-and-messaging-solutions/kerio-connect)** in the area of business email, an email server and email client solution with mobile device support that integrates security features such as SSL encryption, S/MIME, and effective antivirus and anti-spam tools. **[GFI MailEssentials](https://www.gfi.com/products-and-solutions/email-and-messaging-solutions/gfi-mailessentials)** is a complementary email server protection solution that provides comprehensive, multi-layered protection against current email threats. **[GFI Archiver](https://www.gfi.com/products-and-solutions/email-and-messaging-solutions/gfi-archiver)** then helps eliminate potential losses or accidental deletion of emails, relieve the email server, and meet a wide range of audit requirements.
