*The main challenges will now include securing new customers, social distancing requirements, limited IT budgets, and employees and customers working from home*

**PRAGUE, 26 August 2020** – [**SolarWinds**](https://www.solarwindsmsp.com/) **MSP****,** a leading provider of IT solutions for service providers, has published the results of its global **COVID-19: Impact and Response** study, which highlights the impact of the current coronavirus epidemic on the business of managed service providers (MSPs) and their future challenges and opportunities in the market. SolarWinds MSP surveyed more than 500 MSP providers in Europe, North America and Oceania.

“The technology sector and partner networks have demonstrated remarkable resilience during the current crisis and revealed the key value of MSP companies for the business sector,” said **Colin Knox, Vice President of SolarWinds**. “Without managed service providers as external members of corporate teams addressing the elimination of technology risks and business continuity, many organisations would have been lost and unable to work remotely on such a massive scale. The knowledge, expertise and skills of MSP providers were an essential factor in maintaining operational performance during this turbulent period.”

Key findings include:

- 59% of surveyed MSPs applied for support through government financial assistance programmes, and 74% received the help they needed.
- More than 80% of respondents did not lay off staff and retained their pre-crisis workforce.
- Most MSPs were able to provide their clients with the level of service needed for intensive work from home, with 59% offering it in combination with enhanced IT security.

More than two-thirds of MSPs decided to be more accommodating to their customers during the epidemic in order to adapt to their current needs:

- 65% of MSPs do not expect changes to their service pricing models in the long term
- 24% offered deferred payment options
- 23% offered temporary discounts
- 19% reduced their service levels to fit within limited customer budgets
- 13% will not increase their prices for the duration of the pandemic

The biggest current challenges for MSP providers include acquiring new customers, social distancing requirements in offices and at their customers' workplaces, limited IT budgets and spending due to the economic recession, and responding to a situation where their own employees and customer employees are working from home.

Over the next 12 months, 51% of MSPs expect higher demand for IT security services, and 47% plan to expand their cloud services offering. 42% expect to increase their turnover in project-based contracts and 39% anticipate growth in long-term contracts – to support this demand, 40% of large MSPs expect acquisitions or mergers with other MSP companies. Customers using the managed services model have greater confidence in their future and expect better financial results than customers primarily using the break/fix model.

Since 1 May 2020, **ZEBRA SYTEMS.** has been the distributor of SolarWinds MSP products in the Czech and Slovak markets. Among the managed services platforms offered from the SolarWinds MSP portfolio are primarily SolarWinds Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM), a centralised set of management and remote monitoring tools with cloud management, especially for smaller and emerging MSP providers. SolarWinds N-central is intended for larger, established MSP organisations.
