Acronis announced a 25% year-over-year increase in sales of its innovative Acronis Backup, solution, with a growing share of companies choosing the higher Advanced edition. The latest version of Acronis Backup 12.5 makes it possible to optimize costs and achieve the required level of data protection, management, and flexibility in hybrid IT environments.
Acronis Backup 12.5 is the only solution on the market that offers complete protection for all backups across more than 20 different environments, including Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, VMware, Microsoft, Red Hat, Citrix, Oracle, and mobile operating systems. It provides easy data management, blockchain-based data certification, and active ransomware protection, ensuring that data is protected against malicious malware and cyberattacks. This proven technology was able to protect its users from this year's Wannacry, Petya, and Bad Rabbit ransomware attacks.
The Advanced edition is required primarily in situations where data recovery speed is critical to a company's survival. It offers remote and automated bare-metal recovery, deduplication, WAN optimization, offline backup management, and user roles and delegation.

According to the latest survey among Acronis customers, 90% of users chose Acronis Backup 12.5 because of its reliability and 80% because of its ease of use. This is fully in line with another survey by IT Central Station, in which 70% of respondents place emphasis on the user interface and 91% consider reliable backup to be the most important characteristic of backup software.
Acronis Backup 12.5 has already received a number of awards and recognitions; for example, the latest Market Note* report published by the IDC analyst firm states that Acronis Backup 12.5 is a “future-proof, game-changing solution.” It is a solution that is “focused on users’ need to consolidate, manage, and protect their data regardless of its physical location or deployment model, and that adapts to the latest trends in backup and data protection in order to support modern, heterogeneous enterprise IT environments.”
According to the report, the data protection and recovery market in Europe will grow by an average of 5.5% annually to reach $2.3 billion in 2021. IDC also predicts that half of spending in 2017 and 2018 will be associated with efforts to comply with the European GDPR regulation, which will come into force in 2018.
