Acronis and Sahara Force India, a Formula 1 team, have announced a partnership to deploy data protection technology. As part of this collaboration, Acronis will provide backup, disaster recovery, software-defined storage, file sharing and synchronization, and ransomware defense technologies to protect the team’s IT infrastructure using manufacturing, testing, and racing data.
As part of the agreement, the team’s control center located at the factory in Silverstone, UK, will be renamed the “Acronis Mission Control Centre,” reflecting the high value of data and the importance of its protection in Formula 1.
The newly named Acronis Mission Control Centre will be active at every test and every race this season. Once the team’s cars take to the track, the control center will begin receiving live data, enabling engineers and strategists to run simulations and send information back to the cockpit. The control center will also maintain real-time contact with mechanics in the pits to provide them with specific information during races and between test runs.
Formula 1 is one of the most technologically advanced sports. Sahara Force India has hundreds of gigabytes of telemetry data from the race track and produces terabytes of development and manufacturing data at its factory. Acronis will provide the most innovative and efficient way to store and protect data and defend against ransomware attacks.
Sahara Force India will benefit fully from Acronis Active Protection technology, built on artificial intelligence and a heuristic approach to malware detection that is more advanced than traditional methods. In addition to automated protection of data and system files, Acronis technology includes a robust self-defense mechanism that protects against attacks on the backup software and backups themselves. This innovative anti-ransomware technology will secure the F1 team’s data across multiple locations, on both servers and engineers’ endpoint devices.
Sahara Force India will have access to the complete range of data protection solutions, including:
- Acronis Backup– the most secure global backup solution, offering near-instant recovery;
- Acronis Storage – scalable and secure universal, software-defined storage available both on-premise and in the cloud;
- Acronis Files Advanced – a secure and flexible enterprise file synchronization and sharing solution.
“The partnership with Acronis meets our data management needs and gives us confidence that our information is managed securely. It is a mutually beneficial partnership because it demonstrates the capabilities of Acronis solutions in data protection and storage, while enabling Acronis to understand the needs of the motorsport industry,” said Otmar Szafnauer, Chief Operating Officer of Sahara Force India.
“We are excited to work with Sahara Force India. Acronis’ innovative technology fully supports the requirements of motorsport teams by offering fast, easy, and reliable data protection where it matters most. We look forward to a successful season together,” said John Zanni, President of Acronis.
