One of life’s great joys is the opportunity to celebrate special occasions with friends and family. Acronis recently had the honor of kicking off the first of the celebrations for our 15th anniversary (PR) and our newly expanded corporate headquarters building in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, enabled us to surround ourselves with partners and customers and generously host our distinguished guests, including the Renault e.dams Formula E team.

Not every company remains on the market for 15 years, let alone stays at the forefront throughout that time — so we are happy to set aside a few moments to celebrate our shared achievements.

It all began in Singapore

Acronis was founded in Singapore in 2003, and five years later we also established ourselves in Switzerland. Since then, Acronis has grown into a global leader in cybersecurity, delivering backup, recovery, hybrid cloud storage, and the most advanced data protection solutions to businesses and home users around the world.

“Since launching our first product in 2003, we have focused on making data protection easy, reliable, efficient, secure, and accessible to everyone. Today, we celebrate 15 years filled with innovation, creating the best solutions on the market, and delivering exceptional cyber protection to millions of users worldwide,” said Acronis co-founder and CEO Serguei Beloussov.

A vision for the future

In addition to celebrating past achievements, the gala evening in Schaffhausen also brought the announcement of an exciting new project.

Singularity City is a new Acronis initiative designed to build a university, research center, and technology park to support industrial research and computer science. The university will focus on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and blockchain, while the technology park will serve to incubate startups.

The foundation is established

The celebration in Switzerland was also a good opportunity for Acronis to present in more detail the recently announced Acronis Foundation (PR). As a nonprofit organization, it will support projects aimed at increasing education and sharing and protecting knowledge around the world.

Beloussov explained that the foundation’s mission directly reflects the company’s founding: “Acronis is based on the optimistic principle that knowledge makes the world a better place. Knowledge is data, and by protecting data, Acronis also protects knowledge.”

The foundation’s first project is the Acronis Schools Initiative, which commemorates the company’s 15th anniversary by funding the construction of 15 new schools over the next three years in underserved communities around the world.

Other programs supported by the foundation include IT education for prisoners in Singapore to reduce recidivism, educational programs in communities where the company operates research and development centers, and university programs in science and technology fields.

Returning to Singapore

The Swiss gala evening was the first, but the anniversary celebrations will continue throughout the rest of the year. One of the upcoming events is a celebration at Acronis’ international headquarters in Singapore in September.

The Singapore gathering will take place at the same time as the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix. Our partners from Williams-Martini Formula 1 Racing will also join the celebration, and together we will be able to discuss how artificial intelligence and Big Data are changing the world of motorsport. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Formula 1 drivers, IT engineers, R&D researchers, and Acronis executives in person — and they will all look forward to seeing you.
