Automated creation of whitelists and blacklists increased the level of security, user comfort and mail server performance
PRAGUE, September 26, 2016 – GFI Software, a provider of security solutions for enterprise networks, announced that the Jevíčko Municipal Office, which manages the public needs of the town of Jevíčko in the Pardubice Region, is successfully using GFI MailEssentials to secure its email communications. The solution has made it possible, in particular, to eliminate security incidents and ease the workload on the mail server.
The Municipal Office decided to deploy a specialized solution installed on the mail server in response to the increase in unsolicited email – currently, more than 5,000 emails arrive at the Municipal Office each week, of which approximately 20% are spam. GFI MailEssentials reduces incoming spam to a minimum and also prevents false positives – by sending an email to a particular address, the product automatically adds that address to the whitelist, meaning that all mail arriving from that address is automatically considered safe. The creation of blacklists is also based on a similarly automated principle, with addresses of email messages containing suspicious links, potential infections or phishing offers being placed on them.
The organization has thus gained a higher level of security and better protection against email attacks. By deploying the solution, office users have also gained greater convenience when processing emails, as they no longer have to manually delete spam or check whether legitimate mail has been caught in the junk mail folder. By filtering unsolicited mail, the system additionally ensures that the mail server is not overloaded.
“The volume of electronic mail in our office communications is growing year by year, which allows us to make our work more efficient, but at the same time brings higher security risks in the form of spam,” said Bc. Pavel Sedlák, Secretary of the Jevíčko Municipal Office. “GFI MailEssentials has proven itself over the long term as a guarantee of high availability of email communication, security of our computer network and coverage of our future needs.”
GFI MailEssentials is a solution that provides comprehensive, multi-layered protection against current email threats. It protects enterprise networks from spam, email viruses and other malware using advanced technologies. The latest version, GFI MailEssentials 20, includes a number of improvements, including multithreaded anti-spam for better email throughput, 64-bit environment support and support for all current Exchange 2016, Windows 10 and Office 2016 platforms.
