The growing number of applications requires optimization of corporate network operations and application prioritization
PRAGUE, November 23, 2022 – GFI Software, a provider of security solutions for enterprise networks, stated that according to its survey conducted among partners and customers worldwide, the number of organizations experiencing daily problems with the performance of corporate applications due to inefficient network traffic management is growing. The reason is the increasing number of applications in use, with more than half of respondents stating that their organization uses more than 10 applications.
An increasing number of critical business applications depend on reliable access to a high-quality internet connection, whether these are cloud systems in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Teams applications, VPN connections, or non-strategic applications such as YouTube, which are accessed by individual users within the organization. In the event of connection problems, the most common cause is not insufficient bandwidth, but rather inefficient use of it and a lack of prioritization of key applications. And if IT administrators do not have the right tools, they often cannot even identify the causes of poor performance.
The most interesting findings include:
- Globally, 46% of organizations operate up to 10 business applications, 36% operate 11 to 20 applications, 10% operate 20 to 30 applications, and 8% operate more than 30 applications.
- In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, 67% of organizations operate up to 10 business applications, 26% operate 11 to 20 applications, and 7% operate more than 20 applications.
- Regarding performance issues with critical applications, 46% of respondents globally are unaware of any problems, 35% experience problems on a daily basis, and only 19% already prioritize their applications.
- In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, 50% of respondents are unaware of any problems, 40% experience problems on a daily basis, and only 10% prioritize their applications.
“The ongoing digitalization is behind the current boom in software applications, both in terms of their number and their bandwidth requirements,” said Jozef Kačala, Vice President of Global Sales Engineering at GFI Software. “Covid also played a role, during which the use of SaaS applications increased sharply. Today, organizations can no longer leave internet connectivity to chance; they must ensure sufficient bandwidth for their critical applications using tools for active network traffic management and optimization, such as GFI Exinda.”
The GFI Exinda NetworkOrchestrator solution provides visibility into the managed network and can identify and resolve network traffic issues before they cause critical problems. It offers bandwidth management and traffic shaping based on corporate policy and can analyze malicious and non-strategic traffic. With the help of a wide range of reports, it provides real-time information about critical applications, enabling network traffic optimization without jeopardizing business continuity.
