Lunys, s.r.o. is a leading Slovak company engaged in the import and distribution of fresh and packaged fruit and vegetables in Slovakia. The company’s headquarters have been located in Poprad (since 1994), with a branch in Bratislava (since 2003). Its product portfolio comes from direct imports, primarily from the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria and Hungary. During the season, the company also supplies fruit and vegetables from Slovak suppliers. The company transports goods throughout Slovakia, handling more than 28 thousand tonnes of goods annually. It has storage capacity covering 7,500 m2 and employs 300 people.
Lunys uses the Karat enterprise system running on a Microsoft SQL database, where critical data is stored. In the fast-moving consumer goods industry, uninterrupted access to data is a matter of business continuity, which is why critical data is carefully backed up. Following the deployment of virtualization, the company faced another task to resolve: backing up virtual machines running on the VMware platform. The company used Veeam Backup software, but because it exceeded the number of slots and Veeam did not provide an advantageous offer to expand its licenses, it decided to test a product from Acronis.
