Customers are increasingly using the automation tools available to them as part of the N-able automation “cookbook”, with the share of security scripts growing
PRAGUE, September 26, 2023 – ZEBRA SYSTEMS, a distributor of N-able solutions in the Czech and Slovak markets, has revealed the 10 most popular automation scripts that customers of N-able solutions use to automate the most common tasks. The scripts included in the so-called automation “cookbook” – Automation Cookbook – enable technical staff to reduce unnecessary activities and lower the associated costs of managing and protecting their customers.
Automation Cookbook currently contains more than 800 specific scripts, with more being created continuously. Automation scripts help managed service providers with tasks such as monitoring, patching, and product integrations – quickly and efficiently, without negatively affecting day-to-day work, while ensuring the smooth and secure operation of customers' IT infrastructures. With a set of scripts designed specifically for the N-able solutions portfolio, MSP service providers can automate and improve service delivery and increase the added value provided to customers.
The list of the most frequently automated activities using automation scripts includes:
- Daily maintenance, which runs at regular intervals, for example to ensure that essential security features are enabled (Workstation Daily Maintenace script)
- DNS filter agent installation, which does not yet have full integration with N-sight/N-central solutions (DNSFilter Agent Install)
- Stricter file signature verification (WinTrustVerify Opt-In Automation Policy)
- List of administrative tools, which displays a list of Windows tools on a computer, making it possible to monitor whether something that should not be enabled is enabled, or vice versa (List of Administrative Tools installed on a computer)
- Print status monitoring (Print Status Monitoring)
- Print queue restart automatically restarts the print queue service in the event of an error (Clear Print Spooler)
- Logon and logoff monitoring, a typical monitoring script (Logon Logoff script)
- Windows Firewall status check and the currently used profile within it (DCC Windows Firewall Check)
- Enabling Windows Firewall (Enable Windows Firewall)
- Device list, which connects to the N-able N-central API and creates a CSV file with an overview of a given customer's devices (Device Asset Report from API)
“More and more IT administrators and MSP providers are realizing the key benefits of automating common routine tasks,” said Ondřej Šabata, Sales Engineer for N-able solutions at ZEBRA SYSTEMS. “N-able provides a unique resource of automation scripts that can be easily used within the N-able ecosystem, saving customers the laborious work of creating their own. It is interesting to see that alongside the automation of the most common monitoring activities, the automation of cybersecurity tools is becoming increasingly popular.”
