Installing Acronis Backup 12.5 takes just 3 clicks. After installation, you select the devices to be backed up. Acronis agents, or an Acronis appliance (applicable to VMware vSphere), are installed on the devices. Once the devices have been added, you can create a backup plan for them.

Managing backups and recovery is very easy. The main menu is located on the left. Backed-up devices (backed-up machines) are in the centre. The context menu is on the right. When you click on a machine, options appear on the right (back up, recover, and more).

On a single screen, you can configure backups for all devices – whether they are physical servers, virtual machines, or workstations. You can switch the display to touch mode. This allows you to manage backups not only from a computer, but also from a tablet or phone.

You do not need several different solutions. Acronis Backup 12.5 can back up everything: physical Windows and Linux servers, virtual machines on VMware and Hyper-V, Windows workstations, and Mac computers. You can start, for example, with a licence for virtual machines and add workstation licences at any time in the future.

You can back up entire physical or virtual machines. You can back up disks, volumes, Exchange, SQL, Active Directory, SharePoint and Oracle databases. You can also back up only the data you need (files and folders). You can then restore only what is needed from the backup, such as individual emails in the case of Exchange.

You can restore a backup even to a machine with different hardware from the machine the backup came from. After recovery, Acronis technology replaces the drivers in the HAL layer and disk controller drivers. This gives you the freedom to choose new hardware – you do not have to keep purchasing the same type of hardware.

If you run VMware vSphere or Hyper-V, you can launch a backup of any machine instantly – as a virtual machine in 2 minutes. No recovery or conversion is required. The virtual machine runs from the backup. This is ideal for testing and minimising downtime.

You can configure backups to be automatically converted into ready-to-use virtual machines. This is useful, for example, for older machines at risk of hardware failure. Once the hardware fails, you can continue running that machine in a virtual environment.

Acronis Backup 12.5 primarily protects systems and data by backing them up. In addition, it actively protects against ransomware. Acronis behavioural heuristics stop malicious processes, protect the MBR, and automatically restore already encrypted data. Acronis protected customers against WannaCry, Pataya and Bad Rabbit.
