The biggest obstacle to better IT security is the high purchase price of solutions

PRAGUE, September 19, 2018 – GFI Software, a provider of business network security solutions, stated that according to a local IT security survey presented on the occasion of its annual partner conference, almost half of the surveyed Czech and Slovak IT administrators experienced a short-term or long-term IT infrastructure outage as a result of a security incident. Only 3% of respondents among external IT administrators had not experienced any incident with their customers.

The survey conducted among Czech and Slovak GFI and Kerio partners confirmed that although small and medium-sized companies invested in IT security tools over the past year to meet GDPR requirements, they still failed to cover all security areas. Gaps are particularly evident in email protection and securing corporate web connectivity. By far the biggest obstacle to ensuring comprehensive IT security is the purchase price of software tools.

Key findings of the GFI & Kerio survey:

  • Over the past 12 months, 81% of respondents recorded security incidents with multiple customers, 16% with only one customer, and only 3% of IT administrators recorded no incidents with any customer;
  • As a result of these incidents, 10% of respondents recorded a minor problem, 43% of respondents a serious problem, 40% a short-term IT operations outage, and 7% a long-term outage;
  • 84% of respondents believe that the main obstacle to better IT security in SMB organizations is the high purchase price of security solutions; 29% also cited the level of operating costs, and 26% attributed it to a lack of IT staff.

“The results of our survey show that almost every SMB organization has encountered some form of attack on its corporate network or an operational outage over the past year,” said Zdeněk Bínek, responsible for sales of GFI Software solutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. “The solution is certainly a higher level of IT and communications infrastructure security, but many smaller companies lack both the financial resources and often sufficient IT staff. These companies are the target of our GFI Unlimited licensing model, which enables comprehensive business network security for less than CZK 50 per month per user.”

GFI Unlimited offers a single subscription, affordable for most SMB companies, providing access to the complete software portfolio. It currently includes 12 full-version software solutions to protect business networks and corporate communications, including GFI OneGuard, GFI OneConnect, GFI LanGuard, GFI WebMonitor, GFI Archiver, GFI MailEssentials, GFI FaxMaker, GFI EndPointSecurity, GFI EventsManager, Kerio Connect, Kerio Control and Kerio Operator. Prices start at EUR 21.60 (approximately CZK 560) for an annual subscription per user, including technical support for all products. More information is available at www.gfi-unlimited.cz.
