Acronis announced that, based on its survey of local partners in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, most customers are requesting anti-malware tools and endpoint protection alongside their backup solutions. According to 64% of respondents, healthcare facilities are currently the most at risk from attacks.
“Backup today is no longer just about storing a copy of data in another location and restoring it in the event of loss,” said Zdeněk Bínek, responsible for sales of Acronis solutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. “Current cyberattacks are capable of destroying backups and paralyzing backup software, which must therefore be supplemented with additional cybersecurity elements, including ransomware protection, patch management and endpoint protection tools.”
Key findings of the local survey:
- According to 52% of respondents, organizations rely primarily on on-premise backup, 12% on cloud backups and 36% on hybrid backup.
- As a supplement to backup solutions, customers most frequently request malware protection (41%), endpoint protection (39%), disaster recovery (34%) and patch management (23%).
- 64% of partners believe that healthcare facilities are currently the most at risk, while 57% cited the public sector/local governments and 32% manufacturing companies.
In this context, Acronis introduced Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, a comprehensive backup service with next-generation anti-malware protection, vulnerability assessment and a broad range of endpoint management features. Part of its strategy was also the recent acquisition of DeviceLock, a market leader in DLP (Data Loss Prevention) for endpoints, whose DeviceLock DLP software stops data leakage directly at the internal device level. DeviceLock solutions are used globally by companies and organizations across all industries, including banking, finance, healthcare, the pharmaceutical industry, the public sector and defense, manufacturing and retail.
