Acronis announced the establishment of the Acronis Foundation on the occasion of the company’s 15th anniversary. The foundation’s main activity will be supporting a wide range of initiatives aimed at removing barriers to acquiring and protecting knowledge, which is fully in line with the company’s view of the dangers arising from a lack of knowledge. The first project will be the Acronis School Initiative, a contribution intended for the construction of 15 new schools in vulnerable regions around the world over the next 3 years.
Continuous education, the creation and protection of knowledge, as well as advanced technologies, are integral parts of Acronis. As a result, Acronis creates and shares knowledge by supporting development and technical programs in the regions where Acronis research and development centers are also based. It was therefore entirely natural for Acronis to further expand its efforts for its 15th anniversary.
“At Acronis, we believe that bad things are caused by a lack of information. Knowledge is always beneficial and has the power to bring real change to the world,” said John Zanni, President of Acronis. “This belief is one of the key building blocks of our company, which was founded with the vision of protecting knowledge by protecting all data, applications, and systems in the modern digital world.”
UNESCO estimates that more than 50% of all children worldwide (i.e., over 600 million) are unable to reach the minimum level required to master mathematics and reading. Acronis believes that every child can learn if provided with the facilities needed to acquire knowledge and create opportunities within their community. Therefore, Acronis will support the construction of 15 schools in different parts of the world.
“A school is the place where the journey toward education and life opportunities begins,” said Jochen Berger, Executive Director of Acronis Foundation. “Technology is the modern international language, but without a basic education, no one can learn this language. Schools built by the Acronis Foundation will provide the infrastructure where students gain the education and technological skills needed to access opportunities regardless of their social, cultural, or economic status.”
The Acronis Schools Initiative will work with local institutions and non-profit organizations to build schools that meet the unique needs of local communities. Projects are currently planned in Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa.
Acronis Foundation will operate globally based on the following values:
- COMMITMENT – The success of each school will be monitored, and regular reports on its activities and impact on the community will be published.
- FOCUS – Every cent contributed to the Acronis Schools Initiative will go exclusively toward building schools, while administrative costs will be covered by Acronis.
- RECOGNITION – Donors will receive recognition for their contribution, their names will be displayed in a place of honor at the school, and they will be invited to the grand opening.
- FULL ACCOUNTABILITY – Every donor is guaranteed a return of funds—if they are not satisfied after the project is completed, their investment will be refunded.
- TRANSPARENCY – Details of contributions, expenses, projects, and payments will be publicly available to anyone wishing to verify the beneficial nature of Acronis Foundation activities.
