Acronis stated that, according to a local survey conducted among Czech customers at the end of last year, comprehensive functionality of cyber protection solutions is the most important factor for 85% of businesses. In their view, traditional data protection should primarily include protection against ransomware, which is increasingly appearing in combination with “cryptojacking,” i.e., attacks on computers aimed at illegal cryptocurrency mining.
Czech companies see the future of cyber protection in the support of artificial intelligence technologies, which are already being used today, for example, to detect and identify ransomware attacks. Other key technologies include blockchain and the cloud. Growing interest in cloud-based enterprise backup, which has almost caught up with interest in backup to local storage, also demonstrates the increasing interest in the previously overlooked cloud.
The survey conducted by Acronis among Czech customers shows:
- When selecting data protection solutions, businesses consider functionality (85%), technical support (43%) and user-friendliness (38%) to be the most important factors;
- According to customers, the future of cyber protection will be most influenced by artificial intelligence (54%), cloud (43%) and blockchain (23%) technologies.
- In 2019, companies primarily want to invest in protection against ransomware (35%), backup (31%) and disaster recovery (30%).
- Preference for cloud backup (49%) has almost caught up with preference for the on-premise backup option (51%).
“We are pleased that interest in cloud backup, which makes it possible to comply with the basic 3-2-1 security rule—three copies of data on two different media, with at least one copy kept outside the company—is continuing to grow,” said Zdeněk Bínek, responsible for sales of Acronis solutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. “In addition to the broad functionality of Acronis solutions, which make it possible to protect any data located on any platforms, our customers find the Acronis Active Protection functionality particularly attractive, enabling protection against the encryption of sensitive data and, more recently, against illegal cryptocurrency mining.”
