Acronis, a global leader in cybersecurity and hybrid cloud solutions celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, has announced a new anniversary edition of its award-winning personal backup solution – Acronis True Image 2019. Acronis also stated that its AI-based anti-ransomware protection technology, integrated into all Acronis backup solutions including the new version of Acronis True Image, stopped more than 200,000 ransomware attacks on 150,000 customers last year. With the currently demanded ransom averaging $522 per attack, Acronis ransomware protection prevented $104 million in damages.
The success of personal backup software with integrated anti-ransomware protection is the latest example of how Acronis continually raises the standards of modern data protection. Users of all kinds benefit from Acronis technology leadership – from sports organizations such as Arsenal Football Club and Williams Martini Formula 1 Racing to everyday consumers.
Since its founding in Singapore in 2003, Acronis has been a leading provider and innovator in the data backup industry. It was the first vendor to offer home users real-time disk imaging. It expanded backup technology to new device types such as mobile phones and NAS storage. Acronis True Image is the only personal backup software that ensures data integrity using blockchain authentication and uses artificial intelligence to protect against ransomware threats.
Today, Acronis True Image 2019 is the only home solution that allows complete disk images to be created in both local and cloud storage and enables cloning of an active system disk on both Windows and Mac computers. These capabilities strengthen users' control over the protection and management of their data.
“The way people use data is constantly evolving, and so are the threats,” said John Zanni, President of Acronis. “To create a comprehensive response to users' current needs, we are pursuing a comprehensive cyber protection strategy that combines proven backup technologies with effective security features. The anniversary edition of Acronis True Image is another step in fulfilling this strategy.”
What's new in version 2019
With the ability to create an all-in-one recovery tool on an external hard drive, Acronis True Image 2019 simplifies system recovery to simply connecting an external drive. Under the name Acronis Survival Kit, it offers a comprehensive and flexible Swiss Army knife-style emergency tool that contains everything a user needs to recover a system, from bootable media to system settings and all backups.
Creating backups is also easier with new event-based scheduling options, such as automatically backing up when a USB drive is connected. The new version provides greater flexibility through additional customization options for users' specific needs.
Acronis True Image is known for its ability to recover a system to the same or different hardware – this capability is further extended by improved WinPE media. The new WinPE builder streamlines media creation by detecting network adapters and configuring network settings, allowing users to recover their system via an Ethernet connection or Wi-Fi network.
Because not everyone wants everything automated, the new backup cleanup tool allows users to free up disk space by manually selecting unnecessary backups and deleting redundant files. The solution's performance and reliability have also been enhanced, and the user experience has been improved to make it more intuitive. Finally, the updated Acronis Active Protection technology now protects data on network shares and NAS storage, which are becoming an increasingly common part of home networks.
