Serg Bell, founder of Acronis and Parallels, becomes Chief Executive Officer
Prague – January 7, 2025 – Virtuozzo, a leading provider of innovative cloud solutions, has announced the return of its original founders and leaders. The company is also introducing a new strategy aimed at equipping service providers with tools for comprehensive systems management, cloud automation, and multi-tier dashboards to help them increase profits.
Those returning include company founder Serg Bell, who becomes its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Solutions Architect. Bell is among the industry’s most influential figures and has a successful track record of founding and leading successful software companies such as Parallels, Plesk, Acumatica, and Acronis, representing a combined value of more than $5 billion.

Bell will be joined by other founders, including Jan-Jaap Jager, who will serve as Chief Operating Officer and President and who previously held a leadership position at Virtuozzo. The management team will also be strengthened by Oleg Melnikov, co-founder of Parallels and Chief Technology Officer at Acronis, who joins as Chief Automation Officer.
Alex Fine, the former Chief Executive Officer, will remain with the company as Chief Business Advisor, and his expertise will be essential in developing the new strategy. “The return of Serg and others brings a wealth of experience and renewed strategic focus to the company, which will be invaluable as we focus on significant growth and transformation,” said Alex Fine.
As part of the new strategy, Virtuozzo will build support for new and existing service providers and hundreds of thousands of small and medium-sized businesses, enabling them to fully leverage the potential of IaaS, PaaS, and FaaS (Function as a Service) technologies. The company aims to provide a complete, open, and extensible modern suite of platforms and applications for comprehensive automation, systems management, service level management, orchestration, and dashboards. This strategy emphasizes leveraging partnerships, the existing ecosystem, generative AI, and software-defined infrastructure to compete with hyperscale and megascale clouds.
In addition to his roles at Virtuozzo, Serg Bell will continue to serve as founder and Chairman of the Board of Constructor Group, a global institution focused on advancing science, education, and technology.
