Scuderia Toro Rosso and Acronis are expanding their partnership with long-term sponsorship and technological support
Prague, July 29, 2016 – Scuderia Toto Rosso, a Formula 1 racing team, and Acronis, a global leader in hybrid cloud data protection solutions, have expanded their collaboration, originally concluded for the Hungarian Grand Prix, into a long-term partnership. The new partnership will provide the F1 team with rapid innovation, greater security, and higher performance during races and beyond.
The partnership includes a logo placed on the side of the Red Bull car and on racing suits during the Hungarian Grand Prix, where it will remain for subsequent races as a symbol of Acronis's technological support in ensuring the protection of Toro Rosso's IT infrastructure. The Acronis team understands the complexity of motorsport processes, where every thousandth of a second plays a role. The Toro Rosso team will use Acronis hybrid cloud solutions to guarantee data availability at critical moments – during races and in preparation for them.
Scuderia Toro Rosso generates approximately 700 GB of data during every race weekend. Hundreds of sensors monitor the cars and provide real-time information that is immediately analyzed and used to improve performance. The data is also transmitted to the team's headquarters in Faenza, Italy, where the engineering support team and data analysts use it to improve the cars and develop new racing strategies.
Sport today is a business that relies on data – data is acquired to drive rapid innovation and enables teams to make effective and successful decisions. “In our competitive environment, it is increasingly important to protect all technical information using state-of-the-art software, and Acronis can offer exactly what we need. Now that we have entered into a long-term partnership, we look forward to working together not only at the sponsorship level, but also at the level of technological cooperation, using cutting-edge data protection products in our factory and within the racing team. I am sure that both sides will gain significant benefits from this collaboration that will help us move another step forward,” said Fran Tost, Team Principal of Scuderia Toro Rosso.
Scuderia Toto Rosso is a strong team especially in research and development, analyzing enormous amounts of data and fine-tuning cars specifically for each race depending on the history and current conditions of the track. Acronis also places great importance on research and development and invests significant resources in these activities. Both teams will join forces to achieve the best possible results, both in racing and data protection, focusing on improving accuracy, performance, design, innovation, and teamwork. The new partnership will lead to increased security and speed both on and off the track.
“Acronis is a leading technology company, growing rapidly in the field of data protection, which is very closely connected with our sport. Our cooperation will represent a step forward for both sides,” said Daniil Kvyat, Toro Rosso driver.
“Racing teams are highly effective at using data for rapid innovation and the development of new technology. Acronis will stand side by side with Scuderia Toro Rosso on and off the track, improving our technology and delivering the best products to our partners and customers,” said Serguei Beloussov, founder and CEO of Acronis. “The Scuderia Toro Rosso team competes in motorsport, but Acronis can fully subscribe to its philosophy of success, which combines personal ingenuity, team support, and cutting-edge technology and engineering. We greatly appreciate the values of the Red Bull team, and its team vision resonates with our team culture, which is successful both in sport and business.”
