The new version brings innovations for more effective website filtering and safer downloading of files from the web

PRAGUE, January 8, 2018 – GFI Software, a provider of security solutions for enterprise networks, has launched the new version GFI WebMonitor 11, a solution for securing web traffic in corporate networks. The new version introduces a new website classification database that makes it possible to increase the performance and ability of the solution to monitor and manage web traffic in enterprise networks, thereby providing better protection against malware attacks through corporate web connections.

The new version includes an updated categorization engine; the VIPRE antivirus engine has been removed, while the BitDefender and Kaspersky antivirus engines have been retained. The deep inspection engine has also been enhanced with support for more applications. GFI WebMonitor 11 is the last version that will support the Windows Server 2008, Windows SBS 2008, Windows 8 and 8.1, Windows 7, and Windows Vista SP2 operating systems.

With the new version of GFI WebMonitor, both large companies and SMBs gain a tool that can reliably protect them against current web threats. By monitoring user activity, customers can block phishing, infected, or potentially dangerous websites. Proactive website filtering can prevent the download of documents or media files containing dangerous malware or ransomware, such as that behind the recent Bad Rabbit attack disguised as a download for an Adobe Flash Player update.

“The latest version of GFI WebMonitor 11 responds to current threats primarily by improving the website classification process,” said Zdeněk Bínek, responsible for sales of GFI Software solutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. “According to our findings and experience, corporate users are highly active in non-work-related activities: the most frequently blocked websites include social networks and gaming sites. These activities can reduce work productivity and, above all, cause an infection of the entire enterprise network with far-reaching consequences.”

GFI WebMonitor enables businesses and organizations to keep all web activities under control and protect against web threats. With this tool, they can increase work productivity, reduce bandwidth costs, and ensure uninterrupted operation of their IT infrastructure. Czech customers include, for example, AŽD and the Research Library in Hradec Králové, while in Slovakia the company Doprastav is among its customers.
