Acronis announced that Lunys, a Slovak distributor of fresh and packaged fruit and vegetables, will use Acronis Backup Advanced to protect its critical data. The backup solution will support the high business continuity requirements of the fast-moving consumer goods sector at a more favorable total cost of ownership.

As part of its business processes, Lunys uses the Karat enterprise system running on a Microsoft SQL database, where critical data is stored. In the fast-moving consumer goods sector, uninterrupted access to data is a matter of business continuity itself, which is why it must be carefully backed up. As a result of virtualizing its information system, the company had to address the backup of virtual machines running on the VMware platform. After testing a product from Acronis and comparing it with the costs of the original solution, the customer decided to deploy Acronis Backup Advanced.

In addition to lower acquisition costs, Lunys expects Acronis Backup Advanced to enable more efficient backup archiving thanks to deduplication technology, thereby also saving capacity in NAS storage. In addition, the customer will use more advanced features, such as restoring virtual machines to a backup server after archiving is completed, which the previous backup system did not allow. The transition to Acronis technology will move the customer further forward in the use of modern archiving tools and ultimately enable more reliable protection of important corporate data.

“Our company supplies perishable goods, and therefore it is critically important for us to have fast and uninterrupted access to current data,” said Pavel Rigo, IT administrator and programmer at Lunys s.r.o. “In the event of a system outage and data unavailability, our losses would amount to thousands of EUR for every hour, which is why availability is an absolutely key factor for us. Thanks to our previous positive experience with Acronis technologies for workstation backup, we decided to deploy Acronis Backup Advanced for virtual machine backup as well. This solution will enable us to promptly restore a virtual machine to a backup server after backup, so that in the event of an outage we can start the backup system as soon as possible and eliminate its consequences.”
