Two-factor authentication, improved integration with the Let’s Encrypt certificate authority, and the elimination of Log4j vulnerabilities provide users with a new level of security
PRAGUE, January 18, 2022 – GFI Software, a provider of enterprise network security solutions, has released Kerio Connect 9.4, the latest version of its popular email solution, featuring primarily enhanced IT security elements. Kerio Connect is currently used by more than 30,000 primarily small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) around the world that need a comprehensive email communication, messaging, and collaboration tool for their day-to-day operations.
Kerio Connect 9.4 now integrates two-factor authentication (2FA), which strengthens secure access. It uses popular mobile authenticators supporting the RFC 6238 standard (e.g., Google and Microsoft authenticators) to provide a real-time token for user login purposes. Two-factor authentication adds another layer to Kerio Connect security, protecting organizations especially in cases where usernames and passwords are exposed through a phishing or malware attack.
The new version further strengthens encryption through better integration with the open certificate authority Let’s Encrypt, thanks to the automatic renewal of 90-day certificates, and simplifies TLS protocol configuration directly from the graphical user interface. Version 9.4 has also fixed vulnerabilities related to the December security incident involving the Log4j library used by the Kerio Connect chat feature. Kerio Connect now meets the highest level of security for organizations and their users.
