New versions of Acronis Backup provide an easy path to the next generation of hybrid cloud solutions

A solution for easy, complete and affordable data protection for both businesses and service providers

Prague, March 15, 2016 – Acronis, a global leader in hybrid cloud data protection solutions, announced new versions of its backup solutions: Acronis Backup and Acronis Backup Advanced 11.7 and Acronis Backup Cloud 5. The new Acronis Backup solution designed for SMB companies combines high performance, quality and reliability with new features that simplify purchasing and upgrade processes, including a guarantee of an easy transition to the future Acronis Backup 12 version.

According to a number of independent sources, data backup and recovery regularly rank among the top IT priorities for businesses of all sizes, but they are particularly challenging for medium-sized companies. At the same time, organizations currently face pressing challenges in the form of major data volume growth, natural disasters, human error and cyberattacks.

“Based on our experience, many companies and organizations still do not realize the importance of backing up their critical data and only begin to take an interest once they lose some data,” said Zdeněk Bínek, responsible for sales of Acronis solutions in the Czech and Slovak markets. “In light of the various threats, now is truly the right time to start focusing on data protection. It is important to choose not only a solution that supports backup from a wide range of platforms, but also one that provides fast and reliable recovery of lost data. And recovery is what the new versions of Acronis Backup place specific emphasis on.”

What’s new in Acronis Backup and Acronis Backup Advanced, version 11.7

Acronis Backup solutions provide one-click fast data recovery—both recovery of individual files and application data, and recovery of the complete system—all from a single backup. Acronis Backup and Acronis Backup Advanced 11.7 are the most powerful versions to date, prepared for a smooth transition to version 12. Acronis Backup supports companies with 5 to 50 employees and one to 5 servers. Acronis Backup Advanced is a solution for businesses with 50–1,000 employees and 5 to 100 servers.

The new versions of both products offer the following benefits:

  • New subscription licensing – Simple and flexible options for protecting an SMB company’s entire data center without capital expenditure.
  • Higher performance and lower storage costs – Deduplication technology makes it possible to store up to 24 times more data using the same amount of RAM, reducing overall storage costs. Customers can also benefit from up to 40% faster data recovery from deduplicated storage.
  • Faster backup with extended storage support – Enables backup of shared directories in a network file system (NFS) and provides faster backup to NAS, SMB/CIFS, FTP and SFTP storage.
  • Extended operating system support – Full support for Microsoft Exchange 2016, Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Tech Preview 4, VMware vSphere 6, Linux kernel up to version 4.4, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x.

What’s new in Acronis Backup Cloud, version 5

Acronis Backup Cloud is an affordable, secure and scalable hybrid cloud solution that makes it easier for SMB businesses to manage the protection of their devices regardless of location and enables backups to be stored according to customer preference—locally, in the cloud or in both locations. Acronis Backup Cloud 5 is built on cloud architecture and can be integrated with the environment or business model of any service provider.

The new version of Acronis Backup Cloud offers the following benefits:

  • Automated service management tools – Enable service providers to better manage service delivery to their customers and record backup system reports, saving them time and increasing revenue.
  • Self-service backup monitoring – Provides end users with better control of backup processes, including the ability to protect devices with a single click after installing the agent.
  • Centralized dashboard – Allows end users to monitor system reports and perform audits from one place through a single management console.
