Acronis: Czech businesses are primarily concerned about their data due to technology failures and user carelessness

Demand for backup solutions with integrated ransomware protection will grow

 Prague, February 22, 2017 – Acronis, a global leader in next-generation data protection solutions, presented the results of its local backup survey, conducted this January and February among Czech reseller partners. The survey shows that, in connection with the loss of important business data, 83% of Czech companies and organizations are most concerned about the failure of their technology. They most frequently need to back up physical servers, but the share of virtualized infrastructure backups is growing rapidly.

Key findings from the local survey:

• In connection with the loss of business data, Czech companies and organizations are concerned about the failure or damage of their technology (83%), user carelessness (78%), and malware and ransomware attacks (61%);
• Companies most frequently address the backup of physical servers (72%), workstations (51%), VMware virtualization (49%), and Hyper-V virtualization (44%);
• Currently, 88% of business customers prefer local backup solutions, while 12% prefer the cloud;
• They perceive ransomware threats (77%) and social media threats (39%) as the riskiest trends of this year;

 

“In 2016 alone, ransomware caused damage worth $1 billion and has undoubtedly become the number one threat today,” said Zdeněk Bínek, responsible for sales of Acronis solutions in the Czech and Slovak markets. “Because attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and target not only standard corporate data, but also its backups and the backup systems themselves, it will become increasingly important for backup solutions to include active ransomware protection. Demand for such solutions will grow the most this year.”
