Most organizations would experience serious consequences for their operations after just a few hours of downtime
ZEBRA SYSTEMS stated, based on its survey among partners, that almost two-thirds of organizations would experience serious operational consequences after just
5 hours of non-functioning websites in the event of web system downtime. Nevertheless, only 9% of IT administrators consider unprotected corporate websites to be the main threat to corporate security.
As businesses and organizations become increasingly dependent on web applications, portals and e-shops, the consequences of their outages are also growing, whether caused by technical errors or deliberate cyberattacks. This year, attacks on the websites of city authorities and sports clubs have been recorded locally, while in July, a global outage of tens of thousands of websites occurred as a result of a DNS service provider failure. E-shops, airlines, banks, gaming platform operators, etc. tend to be the most affected by service interruptions, with their losses potentially reaching millions of dollars.
The most interesting findings from the ZEBRA SYSTEMS survey among Czech and Slovak resellers include:
- To ensure web systems could be offline without serious consequences for company operations, 36% of IT administrators stated a maximum outage of up to 24 hours, 41% of administrators up to 5 hours, 18% up to 1 hour, and 5% stated that they must not go offline at all.
- 59% of respondents stated that their hosting service handles web system protection, 27% use a firewall in front of the web server, 18% use a cloud solution, and 14% use web server security. 5% do not protect their website at all.
- Only 9% cited web system protection as their top priority.
“According to a Cloudflare report from the first quarter of this year, there is a growing number of cases in which cyberattackers demand substantial ransoms for stopping DDoS attacks on web infrastructure,” said Michal Hebeda, Sales Engineer at ZEBRA SYSTEMS. “This is an increasingly common type of ransomware attack, and IT administrators in organizations that are highly sensitive to web system outages in particular should take adequate measures. Cloudflare services provide proven infrastructure capable of protecting against even large-scale DDoS attacks.”
In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, ZEBRA SYSTEMS is responsible for delivering Cloudflare services focused on application and network infrastructure security (including Cloudflare DDoS and WAF), improving the performance and reliability of internet applications (Cloudflare CDN and DNS), team collaboration (Cloudflare for Teams, Cloudflare Access), and developer platforms (Cloudflare Workers).
