D.A.S. is a provider of legal expenses insurance for private individuals and business entities across all industries. Based on the insurance policy concluded, it provides its customers with legal protection, from dealing with fines to representation in complex court cases. The company employs approximately 130 staff members and around 70 external sales representatives, who use email for intensive communication with customers.

Each quarter, approximately 90 GB of data flows through the company in more than 300,000 emails, with a total of 3 TB of data archived in the form of email. The information contained in these emails is searched when, for example, in connection with ongoing legal disputes, exact wording needs to be retrieved even 10 years back. The company previously archived its emails into PST files and also used backups for this purpose, but this method was not entirely reliable because it did not guarantee the recovery of all emails when needed. It therefore decided to install the only fully featured archiving solution available on the market at the time: GFI Archiver.
