MSP providers are seeing interest primarily in backup and email protection services

PRAGUE, June 21, 2021 – ZEBRA SYSTEMS, a distributor of N-able solutions in the Czech and Slovak markets, stated based on its survey among MSP partners that businesses most underestimate password management and cybersecurity training for users. However, in view of the increased activity of hackers recently, they should pay special attention to this issue and check with their MSP service providers about the options available to ensure it.

The overwhelming majority of surveyed partners confirm that weak passwords are one of the main security issues for SMB companies. This may be one of the consequences of the fact that companies today are moving other security areas to services such as backup and email protection and do not have the capacity to address password management itself, for example. At the MSP provider level, however, there are powerful tools that offer organizations a high level of security while also providing convenient access to corporate systems.

The most interesting findings from the survey among MSP partners:

  • In the area of cybersecurity, customers most underestimate weak passwords (95%), user training (73%), unsecured emails (36%), unprotected networks (32%) and outdated applications (32%)
  • They primarily move backup (65%) and email protection (60%) to SaaS services, followed at a distance by endpoint protection (15%)
  • In the area of managed services, MSP providers primarily offer server management services (76%), comprehensive IT management (76%), network monitoring and management (67%), endpoint management (62%) and email management (61%)

For example, N-able, a supplier of tools for MSP providers, offers the N-able Passportal solution, which increases password security. N-able Passportal provides password management in accordance with recommended practices, storing access permissions and knowledge in an encrypted password vault that is controlled by role-based access permissions and uses multi-factor authentication.

“Our partners are increasingly applying a layered security model based on the gradual addition of security layers,” said Ondřej Šabata, Sales Engineer for N-able solutions at ZEBRA SYSTEMS. “So once they address backup, email or other challenges for their customers, there is no problem extending protection to password management as well. Thanks to the N-able MSP platform, this expansion is fast and easy and, given the current threats of possible credential theft, also very cost-effective.”
