D.A.S. legal expenses insurer needs to find exact wording in email communications even 10 years back, typically due to ongoing court proceedings. More than 300,000 emails with approximately 90 GB of data pass through the company every quarter. Previous storage in backed-up PST files did not guarantee recovery of all emails.

The company deployed GFI Archiver, which uses journaling to store original emails and files in a central repository resistant to unauthorized tampering, separate from the mail server.

3 TB of email is archived exactly as it was received or sent from the company, serving as verifiable evidence of communication. Full-text search finds an email by date, insurance policy number, or claim number almost instantly, and accidentally deleted messages can be restored to users.

Slovakia’s largest food wholesaler operated an older mail system without shared calendars or mobile access, while processing 6,400 emails totaling nearly 2 GB every day. It was looking for stable on-premise email with full control over its data—it did not want a cloud solution.

The solution is relied on by 320 users. The company gained secure on-premise email which, at the time of deployment, offered functionality comparable to Microsoft Exchange at significantly lower costs, more convenient email management thanks to calendars, and better security.
