The Society for the Support of People with Intellectual Disabilities expanded its number of Kerio Connect licenses
Kerio solutions help the organization improve the level of care provided to its clients
PRAGUE, July 18, 2017 – GFI Software, a provider of business network security solutions, announced that the Society for the Support of People with Intellectual Disabilities in the Czech Republic has expanded its number of Kerio Connect solution licenses, thereby increasing the flexibility and efficiency of its employees in order to further improve the level of services provided to its clients. Kerio Connect has been used by the organization since 2007, when it replaced the original unsecured email hosting solution.
Social counseling, conferences, social events and other activities are handled by approximately 15–20 employees, including external staff, who personally assist more than 500 people from across the country each year. Individual employees handle up to 500 emails (incoming and outgoing) per week. In 2017, as part-time positions expanded and the need for flexible work from home increased, the number of Kerio Connect licenses was increased this year from the original 10 to the current 15.
Given the mobile work style of SPMS employees, the main advantage of Kerio Connect is easy access to email from anywhere via a smartphone. Employees can check their mail while traveling or at home without having to carry a laptop with them at all times. Shared contacts, which can be accessed from anywhere and do not need to be created separately for each user, are a major user benefit. This is particularly important for the SPMP team, which often consists of mothers with young children working part-time, resulting in frequent staff changes. Calendar synchronization features are also used extensively.
“Over the years, email has become our main working tool for handling our agenda and organizing a wide range of activities,” said Camille Latimier, Director of the Society for the Support of People with Intellectual Disabilities. “Given the flexibility and mobility of our work, Kerio Connect is an invaluable aid for us, and we are very satisfied with it. We greatly appreciate the selfless support that allows us to use this very user-friendly product free of charge, now with an expanded number of licenses as well.”
The Kerio Connect email server provides email, instant messaging, shared calendars and contact management in most email clients, IM clients, web browsers and mobile devices. The main technical reason for deploying the product at SPMP was the fact that Kerio Connect enables full control over administration, is reliable, and includes high-quality support and upgrade services. The system currently runs on Windows Server 2016 at SPMP.
About the Society for the Support of People with Intellectual Disabilities in the Czech Republic
The Society for the Support of People with Intellectual Disabilities in the Czech Republic is an organization that brings together more than 70 local associations of parents of people with intellectual disabilities and people with disabilities themselves. It is estimated that 1–3% of the entire population in the Czech Republic consists of people with intellectual disabilities. SPMP's goal is to support the integration of these people and draw attention to the fact that they too have standard human rights: they can work, live independently, form relationships and lead ordinary lives. The organization advocates for maintaining legal capacity and seeks to address, together with parents, the question of children's futures, including the recently much-discussed topic of inclusion in education and adult life.
