The new features respond to the growing number of attacks on manufacturing organizations and operational systems

PRAGUE, 3 November 2026 – Acronis, global leader in cyber protection solutions, announced the availability of Acronis Cyber Protect 17, the new version of its comprehensive on-premises cybersecurity and data protection solution. The new version extends integrated cyber protection with new features that strengthen security awareness, improve backup processes and extend protection to more virtual environments. It is ideal for environments with industrial systems and operational technology (OT), whose proper operation smooth production, logistics, sales and overall profitability depend on.

Cybersecurity in industrial manufacturing has reached a turning point – virtually every device is digitalized in some way today. The convergence of IT and OT, expanding remote access for suppliers and subcontractors, the deployment of IIoT and a growing number of legacy systems with unsupported operating systems – all of this widens the OT attack surface. Half of all OT incidents originated from unauthorized external access.

What's new in version 17

The key improvements in the new version include:

·       Reducing cyber risks through security awareness. Acronis Cyber Protect now offers security awareness training that helps organizations educate users through engaging learning content, phishing and deepfake simulations and flexible reporting.

·       Extending protection to more virtual environments. To support their business operations, organizations increasingly rely on multiple virtualization platforms. Acronis Cyber Protect 17 extends workload protection with support for Nutanix 7.3–7.5 and Proxmox 9.1–9.2. These additions help organizations extend protection to more virtual environments while maintaining a unified approach to backup and recovery.

·       Ransomware protection guarantee program. Qualified recovery points are covered by the Acronis ransomware protection guarantee program and backed by a financial guarantee from Acronis of up to USD 1 million. By combining secure backup, a recovery guarantee and integrated cyber protection on a single platform, Acronis helps organizations strengthen business continuity and recover with greater confidence.

·       Expanded protection in Microsoft Entra ID Backup. Acronis Entra ID Backup now provides broader protection of critical identity and access configurations. The latest update adds backup and recovery support for user settings, group settings, role settings, custom domains and organization settings, helping organizations restore a larger part of their Entra ID environment after accidental deletion, misconfiguration or identity-targeted attacks.

·       Smoother backup protection. Acronis Cyber Protect now allows automatic backup of new files added to selected folders. This helps reduce the risk of important data remaining unprotected while simplifying backup management. This version also extends archive password rotation options to virtual machine backups. Administrators can update archive passwords without having to recreate backup tasks, which helps meet password rotation requirements and respond more efficiently to potential credential compromise.

“Acronis Cyber Protect uniquely combines backup and recovery with cybersecurity and endpoint management,” said Štěpán Bínek, Acronis solutions sales manager at ZEBR.AI. “Acronis Cyber Protect for OT also addresses the specific requirements of industrial computers and their recovery. Customers can go through a suitable configuration for their servers and workstations with our ZEBR.AI team and receive the offer that best matches their protection and operational recovery requirements.”

New end-user prices

Effective 1 October 2026, Acronis adjusted the recommended end-user prices of selected Acronis Cyber Protect subscriptions. Comparing identical SKUs against the price list valid as of 1 January 2026, prices of annual server licenses of the Standard, Advanced and Backup Advanced editions fell by up to 69%. For corresponding annual workstation licenses, prices were reduced by up to 27%.

The price change is an opportunity for companies that need to cover additional devices or reassess the scope of their backups. When choosing a solution, it is worth starting from which systems are critical to operations and how the company needs to restore them after a failure or security incident.
