82% of IT providers spend the most time managing existing customers

PRAGUE, July 20, 2023 – ZEBRA SYSTEMS, the distributor of N-able solutions in the Czech and Slovak markets, announced that according to its survey among IT resellers, most IT administrators today spend their working time primarily managing existing customers or performing routine operational tasks. 61% of them believe that centralizing IT environment management tools is the main path to increasing productivity and, consequently, further expanding the customer base. The survey was conducted in June 2023 among ZEBRA SYSTEMS resellers; the company is a distributor of N-able solutions in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Southeastern Europe.

The survey also showed that the number of users per administrator is steadily increasing – an IT administrator now manages an average of 75 to 150 users, while administrators managing more than 300 users are not uncommon. This creates growing pressure on IT and MSP provider staff to automate routine activities as much as possible and centralize IT environment management – both in terms of different tools and multiple customers.

The most interesting findings from the questionnaires:

  • For 4% of IT providers, fewer than 30 users are assigned to one IT administrator; for 33%, it is 30–75; for 45%, 75–150; for 10%, 150–300; and for 8%, more than 300 users.
  • IT administrators spend the most time managing existing customers (82%), handling routine operational tasks (53%), and addressing compliance requirements (12%). Only 8% spend time on strategic IT security proposals, and 6% on onboarding new customers.
  • According to 61% of respondents, centralizing the management of all tools and services would contribute most to higher productivity; 41% cited automating customer administration, and another 41% cited creating best-practice documents.

“Every year, the range of tools necessary to ensure IT security expands in response to the need to address cyber threats more effectively,” said Ondřej Šabata, Sales Engineer for N-able solutions at ZEBRA SYSTEMS. “In addition, IT administrators are under increasing pressure to handle more tasks and more customers transitioning to MSP models while maintaining the same headcount. In such a situation, comprehensive MSP tools such as N-able N-sight and N-able N-central, which centralize the most common IT infrastructure management, monitoring, and security tasks, are an ideal option for a large proportion of IT providers.”
